Isabella and Joseph’s May wedding at the St. Louis Art Museum felt timeless, romantic, and effortlessly elegant. Although it rained throughout the entire day, the soft light and quiet atmosphere that rain brings made the celebration feel even more intimate. Some of the most beautiful wedding days happen in the rain, and this one was no exception.
The day began with Isabella getting ready at a nearby Airbnb with her bridesmaids. The space was calm and filled with anticipation as everyone prepared for the day ahead. Her bridesmaids wore pale blue dresses that perfectly complemented the wedding’s soft color palette of whites, pastels, and delicate blues.
Joseph arrived at the Airbnb for their first look, and the moment they saw each other was incredibly sweet. First looks are always one of my favorite parts of a wedding day because they allow the couple to share a quiet moment together before the celebration begins.
Because of the steady rain, we headed to the Muny in Forest Park for portraits. It is a covered area that is also stunning, so it made for the perfect romantic photo spot for their day.
From there we made our way to the St. Louis Art Museum for the remainder of the day. Isabella’s dress felt especially fitting for the venue. It had a statuesque, almost sculptural quality that echoed the timeless art and architecture of the museum itself.
The couple described their wedding vision as traditional, intimate, European, and fun, and every detail reflected that feeling. The florals were lush and beautiful with pastel pinks, soft blues, creamy whites, and fresh greenery that added softness to the museum’s grand interiors.
Due to the rain, the ceremony was moved indoors, which ended up creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere. After the ceremony, the reception took place in the museum’s grand main hall. The space felt both classic and celebratory, with guests mingling beneath the soaring ceilings before the evening transitioned to dancing.
One of the most memorable parts of the night was the dance floor, which took place inside one of the museum’s galleries. Celebrating among the artwork gave the evening such a unique and unforgettable atmosphere.
Isabella and Joseph’s St. Louis Art Museum wedding was a perfect reminder that sometimes rain makes a wedding day even more beautiful. As always, the day was captured using both digital and film photography to preserve the timeless feeling of the celebration. I hope you love this preview!
