Cozy In-Home Session // merissa + alex

I am SO pumped to be sharing some of my favorites from Merrisa + Alex’s cozy in-home engagement session! When Merissa reached out to me a few months ago saying how they wanted to do their engagement session in their home, I was thrilled. She told me how they bought their house a few years ago and have been renovating it together ever since. Alex does the construction, and Merissa handles the design! (#chipandjoannagoals haha!) Their hard work is so impressive and you can tell how proud they are of each other. However, by the time their cozy, in-home session rolled around, the renovation wasn’t 100% complete yet. But we agreed there wasn’t a need to “hide” any of the unfinished parts in the photos because the renovation has been their entire life for two years now. It simply is what life looks like to them and I think it’s pretty beautiful. ❤️

It was definitely fitting to do the second half of their session on Main Street in Historic St. Charles. They spend every Sunday night there getting dinner together at their favorite Mexican restaurant! How cute is that?! I had such a blast with these two and hearing all about their lives and what they’ve been up to lately. As we walked along Main Street they pointed out all their favorite spots to me which was so fun! I know for a fact that their wedding in October will be so beautiful and filled with so much love. I truly can’t wait to photograph it and celebrate Merissa + Alex! <3
